Steve flew out of Manchester airport on July 26th bound for Mongolia and the start of his challenge for 2024. He was going to be a tourist for 5 days before switching his “HEAD” into challenge mode. I guess many of you will have been following his posts on Facebook but for those who have not he is a very quick resume of what he has been up to. On his first day in Ulaanbaatar, he went off on a tour of the town. It looks spectacular.

The next day it was the Chinggis Khan statue that interested him so off he set on another tour!!! The Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, part of the Genghis Khan Statue Complex, is a 40-metre (130 ft) tall, stainless-steel statue of Genghis Khan on horseback and the world’s tallest equestrian statue.

Being determined to see as much as he could during his days as a tourist the following day was a trip to the national park Gorkhi- Terelj. Here there was much more to see.

To round off the day came a visit to the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet. What a shame we did not see Steve showcasing his own dancing!! But at least he got to sit on the stage

In the following days he visited many more tourist attractions.

And now Steve moves on to the main event. Today he has been transported, along with his fellow competitors to the desert which is the theatre for his great challenge. Hoping that he was not exhausted his energy supply during the past very full week. It just remains to say “Good Luck Steve, go and smash it before moving on to Guatemala.”
